What is the dose of the medication you are taking? |
Femigest is a progestogen. This medication causes a transition in the endometrium of proliferative phase, called follicular hormone in the secretory phase, and after fertilization promotes its transition to a state necessary for the development of a fertilized egg. Progesterone reduces the excitability and contractility of the muscles of the uterus and fallopian tubes, stimulates the development of terminal elements of the breast. It has no androgenic activity. This drug has little effect on protein metabolism, promotes fat deposit and accumulation of glucose in the liver and reduces the reabsorption of sodium in renal tubules.
Femigest has a blocking effect on the secretion of hypothalamic factors LH and FSH release, inhibits the formation of the pituitary gonadotropin-releasing hormone and inhibits ovulation.
After IM injection Femigest is absorbed rapidly and almost completely. This medication metabolized in the liver, the majority of metabolites formed conjugates with glucuronic and sulfuric acids. T1/2 from plasma is a few minutes. This medicine is excreted in the urine - 50-60%, in feces - more than 10%. The number of metabolites which are excreted in the urine varies, depending on the phase of the corpus luteum.
Capsules Oral - premenstrual syndrome, fibrocystic breast disease, premenopausal, menopause, including premature, postmenopausal women - as the progestogen component of hormone replacement therapy in combination with estrogen; Capsules Vaginal - HRT when dormant in the absence of ovarian progesterone (egg donation), support the luteal phase in preparation for in vitro fertilization, support the luteal phase in spontaneous or induced menstrual cycle, prevention of habitual abortion by threatening and progestogen deficiency, endocrine infertility, prevention of uterine fibroids, endometriosis.
Solution in oil: amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea, algomenorrhea (on the basis of hypogenitalism), anovulatory metrorrhagia, infertility, endocrine (including failure of the corpus luteum), the threat of termination of pregnancy, diagnosis of estrogen.
Gel for external use: mammalgia, disease of the breast.
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding, metrorrhagia, amenorrhea, recurrent miscarriage.
Contraception.
Orally, intravaginally, IM, locally. The dosing regimen is individual. The dose, frequency and duration of treatment with Femigest are determined according to the scheme depending on the indications and the clinical situation.
Cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure.
Metabolic: edema.
Digestive system: liver problems, jaundice, rarely - nausea, vomiting.
Endocrine: rare (with prolonged use) - decreased libido, weight gain, pain and tension in the breasts, irregular uterine bleeding.
CNS: rare (with prolonged use) - headache, depression.
Severe liver or kidney problems, hepatitis, thromboembolic disease, vaginal bleeding of not established genesis, breast carcinoma (except for cases in which progesterone is used in a combination therapy of this disease).
In cases of extreme necessity Femigest may be used during pregnancy in the established failure of the corpus luteum hormone.
Progesterone is not used in women planning a pregnancy in the near future.
Femigest is used with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, impaired liver or kidney problems, diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, migraine, depression.
Femigest reduces the intensity of the drugs that stimulate the smooth muscles of the uterus, anabolic steroids, gonadotropin-releasing hormone of the anterior pituitary.
This medication reduces the lactogenic effect of oxytocin.
Progesterone enhances the action of diuretics, antihypertensive drugs, immunosuppressive drugs. Simultaneous administration of Femigest with barbiturates it is marked decrease of progesterone effects.
Depending on the reaction of the Femigest after taken, if you are feeling dizziness, drowsiness or any weakness as a reaction on your body, Then consider Femigest not safe to drive or operate heavy machine after consumption. Meaning that, do not drive or operate heavy duty machines after taking the capsule if the capsule has a strange reaction on your body like dizziness, drowsiness. As prescribed by a pharmacist, it is dangerous to take alcohol while taking medicines as it exposed patients to drowsiness and health risk. Please take note of such effect most especially when taking Primosa capsule. It's advisable to consult your doctor on time for a proper recommendation and medical consultations.
Is Femigest addictive or habit forming?Medicines are not designed with the mind of creating an addiction or abuse on the health of the users. Addictive Medicine is categorically called Controlled substances by the government. For instance, Schedule H or X in India and schedule II-V in the US are controlled substances.
