Marflu-X uses
Marflu-X consists of Acetaminophen, Caffeine, Carbetapentane Citrate, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Guaifenesin, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride.Acetaminophen:
Pharmacological action
Marflu-X is an analgesic-antipyretic. It has analgesic, antipyretic and weak anti-inflammatory action. The mechanism of action is associated with inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, the predominant influence on the thermoregulation center in the hypothalamus, enhances heat transfer.
Why is Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) prescribed?
Pain weak and moderate intensity of different genesis (including headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, algomenorrhea; pain in trauma, burns). Fever in infectious and inflammatory diseases.
Marflu-X dosage and administration
Oral or rectally adults and adolescents with a body weight over 60 kg is used in a single dose of 500 mg, the multiplicity of admission - up to 4 times / Maximum duration of treatment - 5-7 days.
Maximum dose: single - 1 g, daily - 4 g.
Single dose for oral administration for children aged 6-12 years - 250-500 mg, 1-5 years - 120-250 mg, from 3 months to 1 year - 60-120 mg, up to 3 months - 10 mg / kg. Single dose rectal in children aged 6-12 years - 250-500 mg, 1-5 years - 125-250 mg.
Multiplicity - 4 at intervals of not less than 4 h. The maximum duration of treatment - 3 days.
Maximum dose: 4 single dose per day.
Marflu-X side effects, adverse reactions
Digestive system: rarely - dyspepsia; long-term use at high doses - hepatotoxic effects, methemoglobinemia, renal dysfunction and liver, hypochromic anemia. Hemopoietic system: rarely - thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis. Allergic reactions: rarely - skin rash, itching, hives.
Contraindications
Chronic active alcoholism, increased sensitivity to Marflu-X, marked disturbances of liver function and / or kidney disease, anemia, pregnancy (I term).
Using during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) crosses the placental barrier. So far, no observed adverse effects of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) on the fetus in humans.
Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) is excreted in breast milk: the content in milk was 0.04-0.23% of the dose adopted mother.
If necessary, use of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) should carefully weigh the potential benefits of therapy for the mother and the potential risk to the fetus or child.
In experimental studies found no embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic action of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen).
Special Instructions
Marflu-X is used with caution in patients with disorders of the liver and kidneys, with benign hyperbilirubinemia, as well as in elderly patients.
With prolonged use of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) is necessary to monitor patterns of peripheral blood and functional state of the liver.
Used for treatment of premenstrual tension syndrome in combination with pamabrom (diuretic, a derivative of xanthine) and mepyramine (Histamine H1-receptors blocker).
Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) Drug Interactions
With the simultaneous use with inducers of microsomal liver enzymes, means having hepatotoxic effect, increasing the risk of hepatotoxic action of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen).
With the simultaneous use of anticoagulants may be slight to moderate increase in prothrombin time.
With the simultaneous use of anticholinergics may decrease absorption of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen).
With the simultaneous use of oral contraceptives accelerated excretion of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) from the body and may reduce its analgesic action.
With the simultaneous use with urological means reduced their effectiveness.
With the simultaneous use of activated charcoal reduced bioavailability of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen).
When Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) applied simultaneously with diazepam may decrease excretion of diazepam.
There have been reports about the possibility of enhancing mielodepression effect of zidovudine while applying with Marflu-X (Acetaminophen). A case of severe toxic liver injury.
Described cases of toxic effects of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen), while the use of isoniazid.
When applied simultaneously with carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidonom decreases the effectiveness of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen), which is caused by an increase in its metabolism and excretion from the body. Cases of hepatotoxicity, while the use of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) and phenobarbital.
In applying cholestyramine a period of less than 1 h after administration of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) may decrease of its absorption.
At simultaneous application with lamotrigine moderately increased excretion of lamotrigine from the body.
With the simultaneous use of metoclopramide may increase absorption of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) and its increased concentration in blood plasma.
When applied simultaneously with probenecid may decrease clearance of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen), with rifampicin, sulfinpyrazone - may increase clearance of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) due to increasing its metabolism in the liver.
At simultaneous application of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) with ethinylestradiol increases absorption of Marflu-X (Acetaminophen) from the gut.
Enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives and indandione). Antipyretic and analgesic activity of caffeine increases, reduce - rifampicin, phenobarbital and alcohol (accelerated biotransformation, inducing microsomal liver enzymes).
Marflu-X in case of emergency / overdose
At a reception in toxic doses (10-15 g in adults) may develop liver necrosis.
Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, sweating, extreme tiredness, unusual bleeding or bruising, pain in the upper right part of the stomach, yellowing of the skin or eyes, flu-like symptoms

When using this product limit the use of Marflu-X (Caffeine) containing medications, foods, or beverages because too much Marflu-X (Caffeine) may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, and occasionally, rapid heartbeat. The recommended dose of this product contains about as much Marflu-X (Caffeine) as a cup of coffee.
Stop use and ask a doctor if fatigue or drowsiness persists or continues to recur
If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
Keep out of reach of children.
In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Directions
- adults and children 12 years of age and over: take 1 tablet not more often than every 3 to 4 hours.

Description: POLY HIST CB is an alcohol-free, sugar-free, purple liquid for oral administration
having a grape odor and flavor.
Each Teaspoon (5 mL) Contains:
Marflu-X (Carbetapentane Citrate) CITRATE... 20 mg
GUAIFENESIN...75 mg
POLY HIST CB Liquid also contains: FD and C Blue #1, FD and C Red #40, Grape Flavor, Maltitol,
Propylene Glycol, Sodium Saccharin, Sorbitol, Purified Water.
Clinical
Pharmacology: Marflu-X (Carbetapentane Citrate) citrate is a centrally acting non-narcotic antitussive.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant. Its action increases the output of respiratory tract fluid by reducing
adhesiveness and surface tension. Sinus and bronchial drainage is improved and dry, nonproductive
coughs become more productive and less frequent.
Indications And Usage:
for temporary relief of non-productive cough accompanying respiratory tract congestion associated withthe common cold, influenza, sinusitis, and bronchitis.
Contraindications:
POLY HIST CB is contraindicated in infants and newborns, and in patients with a knownhypersensitivity to any of the components. It is also contraindicated in patients on MAO inhibitor therapy.
Warnings:
A persistent cough may be a sign of a serious condition. If cough persists for more than one weekor tends to recur, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache, patient reevaluation
should be considered.
Precautions:
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Guaifenesin may produce an increase in urinary 5-hydroxy-indoleacetic acid andmay therefore interfere with the interpretation of this test for the diagnosis of carcinoid syndrome. It may
also falsely elevate the VMA test for catechols. Administration of this drug should be discontinued 48 hours
prior to the collection of urine specimens for such tests.
Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, And Impairment of Fertility:
No adequate and well controlled studies have been conducted to determine whether the componentsof POLY HIST CB have a potential for carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, or impairment of fertility.
Pregnancy:
Pregnancy Category C: Animal reproduction studies have not yet been conducted with this product.It is not known whether it can cause fetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman or can affect
reproduction capacity. This product should not be administered to pregnant women.
Nursing Mothers:
Due to the possible passage of the ingredients into breast milk, this product should not be given to nursing mothers.Adverse Reactions:
Guaifenesin is well tolerated and has a wide margin of safety. Side effects are generallymild and infrequent. Nausea and vomiting are the most common side effects. Dizziness,
headache, and rash (including urticaria) have been reported rarely.
Overdosage:
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS: Incidence of acute toxicity with guaifenesin is low and over dosageis unlikely to produce serious toxic effects. In laboratory animals no toxicity resulted when
guaifenesin was administered by stomach tube in doses up to 5 grams/kg.
TREATMENT: Treatment of the signs and symptoms of overdosage is symptomatic and
supportive. The patient should be induced to vomit, even if emesis has occurred spontaneously.
Pharmacologic vomiting by the administration of ipecac syrup is a preferred method, however,
vomiting should not be induced in patients with impaired consciousness. Precautions against
aspiration must be taken, especially in infants and children. Following emesis, any drug
remaining in the stomach may be absorbed by activated charcoal administered as a slurry with water.
Dosage and Administration:
POLY HIST CB is administered orally as follows:Adults: 1-2 teaspoonfuls every 4-6 hours or as directed by a physician.
Children 6-12 years of age: 1 teaspoonful every 4-6 hours or as directed by a physician.
Children 2-6 years of age: 1/2 teaspoonful every 4-6 hours or as directed by a physician.
Children under 2 years of age: As directed by a physician.

Guaifenesin:
An expectorant that also has some muscle relaxing action. It is used in many cough preparations.
Indication: Used to assist the expectoration of phlegm from the airways in acute respiratory tract infections.
Marflu-X (Guaifenesin) is an expectorant which increases the output of phlegm (sputum) and bronchial secretions by reducing adhesiveness and surface tension. The increased flow of less viscous secretions promotes ciliary action and changes a dry, unproductive cough to one that is more productive and less frequent. By reducing the viscosity and adhesiveness of secretions, Marflu-X (Guaifenesin) increases the efficacy of the mucociliary mechanism in removing accumulated secretions from the upper and lower airway.

Store at 15° - 30°C (59° - 86°F). Supplied in a tight, light-resistant container with a child-resistant cap. Marflu-X (Phenylephrine Hydrochloride) Tablets are dark purple, caplet-shaped, scored tablets, debossed "Poly" bisect "782" on one side and plain on the other.
