Dermaspray uses
Dermaspray consists of Benzalkonium Chloride, Benzyl Alcohol, Chlorhexidine Gluconate.Benzalkonium Chloride:
Pharmacological action
Dermaspray is an antiseptic. This medication is a quaternary ammonium compound, belongs to the cationic surfactant. Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) has antimicrobial and antiviral activity against Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Herpes simplex Type 2, Staphylococcus aureus, little active against Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Haemophilus ducreyi and Treponema pallidum.
Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) is not active against Mycoplasma spp.
This medicine exerts spermicidal action which is due to the ability to damage the sperm membrane; inhibits sperm motility, disrupting electrolyte balance of the aqueous phase of cervical mucus.
Pharmacokinetics
Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) for external and local application is practically not absorbed.
Why is Dermaspray prescribed?
For external use only. Topical solution - a primary and delayed primary wound treatment, prevention of secondary infection of wounds hospital strains of microorganisms (injury of soft and bone tissue, burns), festering wounds, drainage of bone cavities following surgery for osteomyelitis.
Weight thick - superficial thermal burns, trophic ulcers, long-unhealed wounds of soft tissues (including infected), pyo-inflammatory skin diseases and diabetes mellitus; paraproctitis.
Tablets and capsules for intravaginal use, vaginal suppositories, creams, tampons - local contraception for women of reproductive age: for the presence of contraindications to the use of oral contraceptives or intrauterine devices, in the postpartum period, lactation, after the termination of pregnancy in premenopause period at irregular sexual life, omission or delay in receiving consistently used oral contraceptives.
Liquid concentrate - disinfection of facilities and medical products.
Dosage and administration
Topically. The solution was diluted with distilled water to make 1% aqueous solution, impregnated gauze dressings, napkins or tampons and put on the wound daily.
Mass is applied at the rate of 0.2-0.4 g/cm2 of wound surface, pre-clean the wound from the purulent discharge, necrotic tissue, or impose gauze or use turundas impregnated with drugs. The maximum daily dose is 50 g. Ligation is carried out daily, the course of treatment is 14 days.
Intravaginally. Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) entered deeply into the vagina before coition; in case of repeated sexual intercourse it should be re-imposition of tablets, capsules, suppositories, creams; tampon can be removed not earlier than 3 h after the last sexual intercourse but no later than 24 hours after its installation (with repeated sexual acts for 1 day shift tampon is not required).
Concentrate Liquid. Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) used for disinfection after prior dilution with water.
Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) side effects, adverse reactions
Contact dermatitis, candidiasis, vulvovaginal and allergic reactions.
With prolonged use of Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) it is possible a local irritation.
Dermaspray contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride), contact dermatitis, malignant neoplasm of the skin; for intravaginal use - coleitis, ulceration and irritation of the mucous membrane of the vagina and uterus.
Using during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Dermaspray has no negative impact on pregnancy. This medicine is not excreted in breast milk and it can be used during lactation.
Special instructions
To improve the efficiency it requires careful observance of the application method. Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) can be used in conjunction with a vaginal diaphragm or intrauterine device. You should avoid bathing or irrigation of the vagina with soapy water for 2 hours before and within 2 hours after sexual intercourse (this medication is destroyed by soap), outdoor toilet is only possible with clean water.
Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride) is incompatible with soaps and other anionic surfactants as well as citrates, iodides, nitrates, permanganates, salicylates, silver salts and tartrates.
Dermaspray drug interactions
Any substance introduced intravaginally can reduce local spermicidal action (including soaps and solutions containing it). Iodine solutions inactivate Dermaspray (Benzalkonium Chloride).

Directions
- Apply to affected area not more than 3 times daily.
- Children under 2 years of age: do not use, ask a doctor.
- Severe reactions to Urushiol (the chemical released by the plant, which causes the irritation) can look like chemical burns and have a thick leathery appearance. Additional applications may be necessary.
- Test product on small patch of skin before applying to the entire body.

Chlorhexidine Gluconate:
Pharmacological action
Dermaspray is an antiseptic agent. Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) is active against vegetative forms of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and yeasts, dermatophytes and lipophilic viruses. This medicine has effect for bacterial spores only at elevated temperatures. It cleans and disinfects the skin without causing damage.
Why is Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) prescribed?
For local use of Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) Pharmaniaga: trichomonas coleitis, cervical erosion, itching of the vulva, prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (including gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, ureaplasmosis); gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, paradont, alveolitis, disinfection of removable dentures, sore throat; postoperative care for patients in ENT and dentistry.
Treatment of wounds, burn wounds and surfaces, disinfection of the patient's skin.
Treatment of surgeons', nurses' hands and operating field before diagnostic manipulation operation.
Disinfection of work surfaces of devices (including thermometers) and equipment which heat treatment is not desirable.
Dosage and administration
The dose and method of Dermaspray application depend on the testimony and dosage form of Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate).
Use only locally. 0,5% alcohol or 1% aqueous solution for 2-5 min is applied to the corresponding surface. In dentistry solution for mouthwash and gel are prescribed 2-3 times a day.
Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) side effects, adverse reactions
Perhaps allergic reaction. Dry and itchy skin, dermatitis, stickiness of hands for 3-5 min, stained teeth, the deposition of tartar, breach of taste (in the treatment of gingivitis).
Dermaspray contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate), dermatitis, allergic reactions.
Special instructions
Remains active in the presence of impurities of blood and organic matter. Should not enter the Dermaspray in the eye (except for special dosage form prescribed for washing the eye), as well as contact with the meninges and the auditory nerve.
Avoid using Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) with iodine preparations.
Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) drug interactions
Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) is incompatible with the soap, and detergents containing anionic group (saponins, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose).
Dermaspray (Chlorhexidine Gluconate) is compatible with any medication containing cationic group (cetrimonium bromide, benzalkonium chloride).
