Carvedil is a blood pressure medication and belongs to the class of drugs known as beta-blockers. These beta-blockers affect the circulatory system, which includes the human heart, arteries and veins.
This medication is used primarily in treating hypertension or high blood pressure.
Taking Carvedil may not be advisable if you have any of the following conditions:
asthma
heart problems such as low blood pressure, slow heart rate, sick sinus syndrome, a pacemaker or heart failure
diabetes
depression
thyroid disease
kidney disease
liver disease
any type of circulatory disease
You may not be able to take this drug, may need dosage adjustments, or may need special monitoring while taking Carvedil if you have any of the preceding conditions.
Carvedil belongs to the FDA pregnancy category C, which means that this drug may be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without your doctor's consent, especially when you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant or currently breast-feeding. This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness or blood pressure changes. Employ caution when driving or performing hazardous activities. Do not drink alcohol when using this drug.
This drug should be taken exactly as instructed by your doctor. If there are matters regarding this blood pressure medication that you do not understand, ask your doctor, nurse or pharmacist to explain those matters to you.
Each dose of Carvedil should be taken with a full glass of water. It should be taken with food to minimize dizziness. The medication should be taken in at the same time daily, and it should be taken regularly to gain the maximum benefit.
The dosage of Carvedil that is best suited to you and your condition should be prescribed by your doctor. Dosage may vary from person to person with regard to a variety of factors.
Symptoms of overdose of this drug include the following:
slow heart beat
fainting
dizziness
weakness
confusion
seizures
nausea and vomiting
If you experience any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention as you may be experiencing an overdose.
If possible, do not miss a dose of this drug. If a dose is missed, however, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the subsequent dose according to schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.
Carvedil may have any of the following serious side effects and allergic reactions:
difficulty breathing
closing of the throat
swelling of the lips, face and / or tongue
hives
wheezing or shortness of breath
unusually slow or irregular heartbeat
sudden weight gain
chest pain
swelling of the feet, ankles or lower legs
unusually cold or blue hand or feet
If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, discontinue the use of Carvedil and seek immediate medical attention. Inform your doctor afterwards.
Carvedil may also have less serious side effects that are more likely to occur. These include:
fatigue or dizziness
weak pulse or mildly slow heart rate
diarrhoea or abdominal pain
insomnia
dryness of the eyes
If you experience any of the preceding symptoms, continue using the product but inform your doctor immediately. Other side effects may also occur when you take Carvedil Meliapharm. Inform your doctor if you experience anything unusual during or after taking this drug.
Before you take Carvedil Meliapharm, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs:
heart medication such as nifedipine, reserpine, verapamil, diltiazem, clonidine, digoxin, doxazosin, quanadrel, prazosin or terazosin
diabetes medication
non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
respiratory medications
stomach medications
Depending on the reaction of the Carvedil after taken, if you are feeling dizziness, drowsiness or any weakness as a reaction on your body, Then consider Carvedil not safe to drive or operate heavy machine after consumption. Meaning that, do not drive or operate heavy duty machines after taking the capsule if the capsule has a strange reaction on your body like dizziness, drowsiness. As prescribed by a pharmacist, it is dangerous to take alcohol while taking medicines as it exposed patients to drowsiness and health risk. Please take note of such effect most especially when taking Primosa capsule. It's advisable to consult your doctor on time for a proper recommendation and medical consultations.
Is Carvedil addictive or habit forming?Medicines are not designed with the mind of creating an addiction or abuse on the health of the users. Addictive Medicine is categorically called Controlled substances by the government. For instance, Schedule H or X in India and schedule II-V in the US are controlled substances.
